PC Benchmark thread (Part Deux) - Firestrike

I guess we all have to do a new benchmark as it changed quite a lot.

The gaming laptop that I am using while we build the house. Next week I can unpack my desktop but it has become obsolete while packed away :(

As Quick requested - I ran it again updated. Just upgraded to latest drivers.

No overclocking by me. Looks like I gained a few points since I last did it. Last time I tested it recently in 1.1 I got 9895 whereas I got over 10k at the beginning of this thread. Did a few runs after the new drivers and I was over 10k every time. This is the middle result with the other two varying by 50 or so points.

That's actually pretty good P!
I forgot to run it again but will do it in the next few days :)

Great build Li-uhl P.

What Ghz is your CPU rated at and what are you running it at? I'd be curious what yours would be like with Skylake i7s.

I have to imagine my score would be quite a bit higher if I oc'd but I really don't see the need for it. We'll see how Fallout 4 runs but I can't imagine needing to OC to run it on max.

Thanks Daunt.

It's 3.5 - 3.9Ghz. I haven't overclocked it but I read that it is very receptive to overclocks. I have a Hyper 212 Evo Cooler on it so I'm sure I could push it when required.

I was quite surprised at the jump from the 970 to the 980Ti to be honest. I knew it would be better obviously but it's really in a whole other league.

I'll definitely add another next year and probably put them in a new case with new mobo, ram, psu and cpu. All ready for the release of the Rift and pushing the boundaries of 4K gaming. That's what I'm preparing for anyway :)

Yeah I haven't felt the need. But now that I'm in the basement it's a TON cooler than the small room I was in before. But yes please to the rift. One of my groomsman mentioned he was considering getting it as a wedding gift for me.

Ok just ran a test using Firestrike. Factory Intel 980 3.33 Ghz 6 core (no overclocking), 12 GB DDR3 Ram and a MSI Geforce GTX Aero 1080.

I got 13320 with 2 780's, 8000 using just one. Impressive card, indeed

Nice scores Kit and JK! Looking forward to getting the 1080Ti next year looking at those scores... wow.

I think it's time to retire the ol' Intel 980 6 core, I'm thinking I'm getting some bottleneck issues these days, especially after looking at JK's score and his much newer 6 core. Perhaps the tax return gods will be generous and I'll have something in February, right in time for the newly released Kaby Lake. Last month I've mildly overclocked it to 3.75 from 3.33 so that has helped a bit but afterall it's still a 2011 processor. I've been pushing for some serious frames and resolution since last fall and using a 6 year old CPU might not be cutting it anymore.

Will be great in the "hand me down internets surfing/Rust farming" pc that sits on the coffee table. (Well, the monitor does, the pc is now a short cube box hidden underneath the table, fuck playing the overpriced laptop game)

And here's the latest Firestrike results. Keep in mind it's a new version, although I'm sure that wouldn't skew the results (edit: Actually, it doesn't appear to be a new version, just a new massive 4 GB download that includes other benchmarks). Also, regarding the pc specs, added 6 more Gb of DDR3 ram a couple months ago so went from 12 to 18 and overclock from 3.33 to 3.75 Ghz.
