iRacing's McLaren MP4-30

Anyone else tried it yet? I know most of you guys aren't into the open-wheelers but this thing is flat out amazing! It's fast as hell, sticks to the track and reacts exactly as you would expect. You can catch slides, trail brake and toss it around like you're not going 190mph. The baseline setups are even pretty good for the tracks I've tried. I honestly can't think of a car in iRacing that I've gotten up to speed with so quickly. This thing may get me back into iRacing.


I'll be hosting a practice session or two tonight if there are no good sessions up already. Anyone going to join me?

We talked about the car a bit here. I'll be buying the car in a few weeks (after the new year). Have you planned to run it at all in official? The schedule for it looks absolutely awesome.

If you haven't seen I'm taking a bit of a break this month from iRacing... my wedding is the 31st. After that I expect to be back in action and will be able to purchase the ring and the MP4-30

I picked up the car but haven't driven it a whole lot yet. I'd like to do some official racing in it but I am still sitting with a B-Class licence.

I could see myself jumping to A do do some races. May be more into a League. To be honest, I usually just run practices. I haven't raced in quite a while.

F1 =/= iRacing F1.

F1 as a RL series is absolutely terrible. The racing is almost purely machine vs machine, it's not about the driver at all. I can't stand it and am not even remotely interested in it. Spec series like Blancpain and Supercar series are where it's at... there is incredibly close, exciting racing that shows who is the best driver, period.

This doesn't pertain to iRacing though. Again I'm not the biggest fan of purpose-built race cars, especially open wheelers, but this is cool. I highly doubt we'll see something like this again, access to extremely accurate data to an up-to-date car like this (whether it be F1 or a prototype, like an LMP).

Trust me though, I get the apathy for F1.

Lotus didn't do so hot, did they? Nor McLaren....

The only reason a Brit ever wins a race is due to reduced weight by comparison. They actually don't need to wear a helmet because no self respecting bug would dare squash itself against something so fucking ugly.

Brain damage is also a myth that Brits need not concern themselves with.

...if you ask me it's quite an unfair advantage!
