Been playing this for 40 hours now, and it's been a good time. I've completed the story and I thought it was pretty good. The world is pretty big, and I find the navigation pretty difficult, but there is a lot to do and find. There are a ton of weapons to find, and the characters seem pretty fun. I've tried 2 of the 4 characters.

Unless you've living under a rock, you know that the CEO is a piece of shit that can't keep his mouth shut, and the game is flawed and unoptimized. That said, I haven't seen constant crashing issues, and when it crashes, you'll find it pretty easy to relaunch and come right back into the game. Party joining is pretty seamless, too.

Recommended Settings:
Visuals
Advanced [C]
Auto-Detect Graphics Preset [Run Auto-Detect] - "Run a Synthetic benchmark to define the best Graphics Preset and Upscaling Method to Apply"
Audio
Advanced [C]
Claptrap? [0] - I'm just kidding. I wouldn't mute Claptrap... at least not until you've finished the story. It's funny that they let you, though!
Gameplay
Basic
Censor Gore [OFF] - duh
ECHO Location Path Visibility Duration [Long] - navigation in this game sucks, so I need the path to show as long as possible.
Reticle Position [Offset] - Lowers the reticle on the screen to make enemies that are large, or above you, easier to see. Example: Offset / Center
Toggle Radar Display [Radar] - Displays enemies around you via a Radar. Should have been a mini-map, but this is all we get.
Accessibility
Gameplay [C]
Screen Shake Intensity [10%] - The screen shake is way too over the top.
Camera Head-bob [10%] - This game wants you to throw-up, I guess.
Mantle with Forward [On] - Because mantling is hard enough in this game.

Troubleshooting issues:

Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date, and it is recommended that you add a command line to your Steam Launch Options after updates to clear the shader cache;
Right-click Borderlands 4 in your steam library and select "Properties..."
At the bottom of the "General" tab will be "Launch Options"
add "-ClearPSODriverCache"
Be prepared to spend 5+ minutes to reload/compile shaders when launching the game. Make sure to remove this line, as you won't want to wait on the shaders every time you launch the game.

It is recommended that you Verify your game files after every update;
Right-click Borderlands 4 in your steam library and select "Properties..."
Select the "Installed Files" tab on the left side.
The last option says "Verify this game's files are installed correctly".
Click the button that says "Verify integrity of game files"
When launching the game after an update, you may find it dropping frames/stuttering once you're in the game. Let the game sit for 10-20 minutes. Even when you're loaded in, the game continues to load the map in the background, so waiting will allow that loading to completely finish. We haven't experienced any major problems after the initial launch.

I think I'm giving up on Ultimate Vault Hunter mode.

I've tried it twice now, got about halfway through both, horrible missions and both time, the games crashed with all progress lost.

If the progress saved then it would be a non-issue, but redoing something I'm currently redoing while dying a little inside with each bullet is more than I can handle.

Thanks for the update!!! I have been considering if this is worth taking up when we're done with Enshrouded, although Enshrouded just added a new water biome, so this could take some time. I will say Enshrouded has been a game that has exceeded expectations, although I think it would be difficult single player. The amount of resources you need to get to advance to higher levels make that difficult and sometimes tedious. But as a multiplayer, we have had a lot of fun with this game. The exploration aspect is pretty incredible, very few bugs and the flying is awesome (oops, I hit my head . . . . multiple times, every day ;))

Just remember, if you're having problems with running Borderlands 4, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford explained on Twitter that it is your fault for not understanding how software and hardware work together!

Do better, Ken.

Scrub.
