B2O S3R9 Blancpain League Race: Friday night August 12, 2016

PLEASE READ:
Opening this for discussion for this weeks race... official series is at Nurburgring combined... Gesamestrecke Long. I don't think the long Nurburgring circuits make for good league racing at all. I'd prefer to move it to a different track. Please vote and/or comment below.

Open Qualify Session starts at 7:30 PM EST spanning 1 hour. Participants are required to put down a reasonable time (within 3 seconds of the leader) to qualify for the Q-race. If any less than 3 laps are put down, or the driver is not within 3 seconds of the leader, he/she will be put at the back of the grid.

Qualify Race starts at 8:30 PM EST spanning 40 minutes of practice and finishing off with a 20 minute, inverse grid, Qualify Race, gridded per the open qualify session prior.

Main Race starts at approx 9:45 PM EST with 10 minutes warmup and a 50 minute Race.

Grid positions carry over from Qualify Race Results.

A mandatory Pit Stop is required within a narrow 5 minute Pit Window at the 25 - 30 minute mark to take on tires only.

I chose a different track simply because the skill gap may be quite high if Mosport is Driven given many of us haven't even turned a lap there yet.

If it were me I'd suggest the shorter version of Summit Point (my personal favorite), Road Atlanta (not sure what the short version is that goes right after the esses), Lime Rock Park or perhaps Donnington.

Not bad suggestions. How about next week we use one instead of VIR?

Well, I would vote for the Ring, but I love that track and was actually looking forward to being able to join a session and be competitive with you guys. But totally get it, it is a hard track that takes a lot of practice. I could join for Road Atlanta or Lime Rock as well. If you go with the Ring, I think you would need more than a 3 second difference since that track is so long.

I voted for Nürburgring (of course). If the Long version is too difficult with 8:30 lap times we could always do the 24-hour layout with 8:24 lap times xD.

If the votes go the other way or if we don't get enough people of Friday that want to do Nürburgring I'm perfectly fine with doing something else as well.

A couple of things on Blancpain on the Ring. QS is one lap, the first one, so you don't need much fuel. I didn't know that and ran a really conservative first lap, thinking it would be best lap in session, its not

Ran a race last night and placed 6th out of 23, not too disappointed given I got spun out at the beginning and had to fight back from position 17 after the spin. You do have to pit after about 5 laps, 7 laps in total. I need to work on pit stop efficiency.

I am hoping to drive Friday night but will be at my lakehouse on the crappy set up I have there, so won't be as fast. Do we know what track yet?

Not sure what we're running this Friday yet Deb. I really don't think the Ring is a good choice given our field size, everyone will be driving alone.

Can't agree more. It's not suited to our race format - DEFINTELY not suited to our qualify race format... I really don't think it fits well. It messes up the entirety of the points standings.
