B2O FW VFA-069 DCS dedicated server

Hey guys,

Eagle Dynamics has added a server version of the game that runs a lot smoother than before.
Therefore i have set it up on our Dedi.

Connection info:

Server name: B2O VFA-069 Macaques
IP Address: 46.249.52.184
Port: 10308
Players: 20
Pass: Default pass
Mission: Several missions, (If you want other missions added feel free to upload them to the TS filebrowser as DCS can load them from there)

Use and abuse it any way you see fit :)

If you have any questions or want it restarted/changed, ask either @Nejtun @Skid_Marc_ @Daunt or Myself as we have access to the servergui.

I've also added the P51 skins that @Jeeve made and our own VFA-069 skins (Currently only mine as @Daunt has the rest)
The liveries can be downloaded through the TS filebrowser in the DCS channel.
If you have a skin and want it added, feel free to leave a reply and upload it to TS. If i see it i'll add them to the server.

Anyone can use liveries, but everyone needs the files locally to be able to see them in MP.

Thanks EV , we put it through its paces yesterday, and I have started a new mission on there today.
The server itself is very smooth and has the added bonus of being up all the time!

For everyone else the current mission is Battle for the North by Shiftiemover, There is a full briefing but the TLDR version is : 3 main battle areas easy medium and hard, A couple of scripted events that gives you urgent objectives to deal with. you can call air 2 air which comes as waves rather than just two jets at a time.
There is also a practice range as before and air to air refuelling stations, AWACS and two carriers to land and take off from.
the weather is also very shit :D a nasty crosswind covers a couple of the airports and it is raining below the cloud cover so be mindful of which way you take off and land ;)
There is a big fire on the infield of each runway though so you have a very clear smoke marker to see the wind direction.
Have fun !

you may land whichever way you want Mike :D just don't blame me if you come in at 300kts because of a tailwind!

Anyway, we had a crack at the tougher mission this afternoon and HOLY CRAP it is tough, on the plus side you can rescue any downed pilots which is a good thing as you only get 4 lives so ejecting is your friend !

Super Mod
Sounds awesome, thanks for the effort putting it together! I'll be getting back into DCS from 13th March so this will be great to be able to just go on a server at whatever time I have free. Thankyou

It really is very handy @little P ,
Thanks again to @ElektroVodka for doing this!
We put this through its paces yesterday with a few more people and it seemed to hold up just fine I think?
I have edited the mission a little bit so there are a couple of extra planes that were missing and also moved the warbirds closer to the action (@Jeeve79 I put in the the #30 P51s in instead of the #25 so you might or might not have to rebind a few keys but the original one you used is also still on the map)

The weather is still open to change so if you don't like what we have at the moment then please say so! Currently April, a little windy, possible raining and a 7:30 am start so it is just getting light.

The 4 lives remain so it gives the rescue people something to do as the lives are refreshed by the pilot getting collected, try not to be a hero and go down with the plane , if you have 70 missiles homing in on your , get out ( preferably not over thick wooded areas like I did or amongst all the enemy airfields!)

Nice video mike , but there is a luuuurevly big spammy thread full of videos already ! lets keep this one about the server or it will get a bit messy ! :D

FYI, I'm looking at upgrading my PC by the 1st week in May (bday time!), and as an extra, I'm thinking of getting a reasonable HOTAS as well. Right now I'm just trying out DCS beta with an old Playstation controller (tough). It's early days yet, and I'm only trying out the T51 and the Frogfoot, but I'm slowly getting hooked:cool:.

As flight-sticks go, Do you guys consider the Thrustmaster T16000M to be a decent option?

When I do get my gear, I'll look at maybe hopping into the server with you guys. Are there certain modules that I need to have if I do?

Hey Anson, the T16000 is a pretty good low cost throttle and stick for sure, hunt around for deals though as some people sell all the parts separately and some will sell the throttle and stick together , you can also get a package with throttle pedals and stick all in one box (if you are thinking of getting pedals at some point then this might be an option to check)

you are good to go to join on the B2O server without buying any content, although now we are supposed to be able to run any of the current maps on a dedicated server we will always run one that everybody has who is playing at the time.

As for extra modules, I don't think you need anything else but there is one more free plane that isn't included in the download, it is the A4-E which you can get HERE (you will want the 1.3 version) its worth having.

Welcome to DCS Anson! As Nejt mentions you can play for free with quite a few modules. Keep a look out for DCS sales as you might be able to pick up something you really want to fly on the cheap. The A-10 for example is a full fidelity module that has TONS of content and can often be had for a really inexpensive price.

DCS sales are never "Months" apart but more like weeks, i'd give it a week or so and the next sale will be starting.

Lol, timing.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Spring Sale - Nice timing indeed!;)
I just downloaded the A4-E and will take advantage of the sale and get Flaming Cliffs and maybe the A-10(?) As it may be nice to have at least one full-fidelity model. I'll see...
My main objective right now is baby steps. I have a tendency to get carried away

@Anson Bennette , Quick Heads up with FC3, all the planes in that package are arcade level aircraft so if you like all the clicky switches that you get with the T-51 and the A4-E then these will NOT do the job. They basically have an ignition key to start them up and have a simplified flight model, you cannot click any of the buttons (you have to bind whatever you want to use to your stick)
If all you want to do is jump in and fly then you are covered with this pack plus you do get 6 planes for a pretty low price.
F-15
A-10 A
Mig 29 ( 3 variants)
SU25
SU27
SU33

The A-10A that you mentioned is not the Full fidelity version, that would be the A 10 C , one of the most fleshed out packages that is on DCS right now and highly recommended if you really want to get your teeth into something.
If you are not sure about any particular plane then ask here first as between us all we have all the aircraft on the service pretty much.

one last thing to note is apart from the map you get with the free download, there are 3 more paid maps:
Persian Gulf 25% off
Normandy with WW2 asset pack 50% off
Nevada 50% off.
There are 2 more free maps in the pipeline although not sure when they will release as well as a couple of new paid maps down the road.
There are also helicopters and WW2 Warbirds.

All of that aside though, there is no need to rush to buy any of the planes as there sales come around as mentioned fairly quickly and with the current line up of free planes there is no task that you cannot do in DCS.

Thanks for the info Nejtun, I'm doing lots of research too. Looks like a decent amount of homework is required. The fun kind tho.
Took the A4-E for a flight and I was surprised how much easier it was to fly than the Frogfoot. I did 4 consecutive takeoffs and landings just by eyeballing it. I fully expected to die, but didn't. For the first time I feel I might actually be able to do this thing. Can't wait to get my hotas.

By the way, as far as system requirements go, I'm upgrading my CPU soon (either 9600K or 9700K) to go along with my 1080, In the hope that it would make me more VR capable. Do you guys find DCS to be more CPU bound (like iRacing) or GPU bound?
