Guild Wars 2 - Keybinds

I just wanted to create a thread for easy reference to my keybinds and why, because it's easier for me to show then explain...

Keep in mind that I've never played a game like this before picking up GW2, so I came into the game with basic FPS controls (WASD, 1-5). I also came into this game fresh of playing The Division/Division 2, which are the first games I ever dealt with "Skills" so that heavily influenced the order in which I placed my buttons, using the number row as well as Q,E,R,T, etc.

All that really matters here is the ability to "Tab Select" through enemies, as well as marking enemies.

I took a picture of both Primary and Secondary columns to show two different methods to the UI interaction. The Primary column is Default (IIRC), and the way I use it, but I saw someone else put the top-right icons on their Function keys, and I thought that was kind of smart. Of course, they're not listed in order, so if you do want the icons in the top-right on your function keys, in the order that they are displayed, I put it in the Secondary column.

I enjoy playing this game with the "Action Cam". It changes the game-play towards something more familiar to me, like a third-person shooter. Rather than "right-click and drag" to control the direction my character is facing, I can just click my mouse wheel (Mouse 3) to lock the camera to my mouse movements. THIS PREVENTS YOU FROM BEING ABLE TO CLICK ON THINGS! That is why I have it mapped to something quick to toggle, like the mouse wheel.

One thing I forgot on this page is that I have "Show Enemy Names" on my Mouse 5 button, but I have it mapped to Left Alt as a Secondary (Left Alt by default shows the names of Friendly Players, but since I have those set to "Always Show", its pointless to have it). The name is a bit misleading, as this button will highlight everything that you can interact with in the area, such as mission items (eggs, banners, grafitti, etc).

This is an alternate, more centered (literally) key-bind idea that I saw in a video. I don't think I could ever leave my beloved (if flawed) WASD keys, but this is still makes a lot of sense. There are quite a few keys that need thought out for end-game content, such as mounts, that he didn't really get into, but this is still a huge improvement over the default keybinds, imo.

Note that "Weapon Skill 1" is unbound, as Weapon Skill 1 should be set to auto-repeat. Just double-click/right-click an enemy and it doesn't need to be set to a key.

This is the same guy that used the Function Keys for his UI.

Wow @Skid_Marc_, thanks for posting this. Yeah, I can't imagine the amount of time it would take to adjust from WASD, it is practically every game.

Nice beginners key guide Marc! @Deb , you would probably like this title, it is quite polished and has a lot of content to get through ( there is also just plain old killing stuff :D ) It is also FREE to start and try, not sure on the limits of this but no need to spend a penny initially!
