ARMA2 event 17.07.2012 - Roll Call

This week I'll try to host another ARMA2 event. I hope there's no connection problems tonight
(I've monitored my connection and it seems stable now).

So it will be time to revisit Takistan and try to destroy the Scud launcher site in the mission Qala Bash....again
Roles and briefing will be given when the mission starts.

I'm on TS from 2000 CET as usual.

Is there an option to spectate? I got Arma2 for DayZ but wouldn't feel comfortable ruining your evening by joining, but I'd love to watch if time permits.

I'm not sure if spectate is available at all in ARMA2? I've never seen an option for it (but I haven't looked for it either.
You can of course join us if you like. There's no chance for you to ruin anything as we are playing ARMA2 for the fun of it, and the more people we are the merrier we'll be
Usually we play missions that require teamplay (us against the AI) so if you're into that you're more than welcome to join anytime.
And since you've set up your controls in DayZ already you should be good to go for any mission we set up for the evening. Don't worry if you're unfamiliar with some weapon systems or some elements of ARMA2, we'll help you through it if necessary.

I'm no longer so sure it was a DayZ problem that denied connection to the server I hosted. I have noticed some irregularities with connections from the world to my ISP. This seems to be fixed now, but I wil not be certain until tomorrow

Here's some info on the mods we use and how we activate them in Six Updater:
Our basic mod setup consists of two small mods that should take seconds to install, these are CBA and STHUD (CBA is a code-extension for ARMA2 and STHUD gives you the "team radar").
You might be able to join our server through the Six Updater (SU) launcher and have the mods loaded by default, but the way we do it is starting SU "non-launcher" (I forgot it's name, but it's the other SU icon on your desktop) and there create a new preset (right click in the preset frame to see your options). You can name it whatever you want but we have named it 332Viking to separate it from any other preset you may have.
When the new preset is created you just open the mods tab and drag and release the mods CBA and sthud over your new preset and they will be added.
Now you right click your preset and select 'updater actions'. Select 'install, update, process bikeys and start the game' and it will begin to install the mods and then launch ARMA2.
When in ARMA2 you can search for our server. It's named 332Viking so you can type that in the filter option and you should see it.

Now you right click your preset and select 'updater actions'. Select 'install, update, process bikeys and start the game' and it will begin to install the mods and then launch ARMA2.

Ran into a problem at this step, it gave an error stating it needed a path, went into global options in Six Updater and selected just the game path and everything worked out. Just some FYI for other new installers that may be trying this.

I've tested my connection as much as I can and every test have been successful so far. I think I'm safe to host tonight.
To make space for all players tonight I've changed the mission for tonight to "Immediate action" by =RTY=. It has nine slots. Also, there's no permadeath in that mission but we have to revive each other so keep an eye on your team mate. Each one have 10 revives so don't take too many risks either
You can also heal yourself one time, but after that you'll need a medic.

Next Tuesday we will hopefully get started without problems a bit earlier than we did this time. We had some problems connecting to my server so Wotan hosted the event after an hour delay or so.

On the bright side we had Ogami Itto and JohnnyK joining us on this event and we had some good fun in one of the default missions. Unfortunately the server froze on our second mission and as it was late already we called it a night.
